After working in the office of Congressman Paul Tonko during a science policy fellowship, Michaela saw firsthand how federal decisions impact everyday people, especially around healthcare, housing, immigration, and economic inequality. Her campaign centers on the belief that government should work for ordinary people instead of wealthy donors and corporate interests.

Michaela’s platform focuses heavily on government reform and economic fairness. She supports banning congressional stock trading, overturning Citizens United, establishing term limits, and restricting corporate influence in elections. She also advocates for raising wages, protecting unions, investing in workforce development, and bringing manufacturing and infrastructure investments back to East Tennessee.

Healthcare is one of Michaela’s biggest priorities. She supports expanding affordable healthcare access through a universal public option, lowering prescription drug costs, protecting rural hospitals, expanding telehealth, and addressing Tennessee’s physician shortage. She also advocates for reproductive freedom, paid parental leave, affordable childcare, and rebuilding maternal healthcare infrastructure in a state with one of the nation’s highest maternal mortality rates.

Michaela also focuses heavily on infrastructure, education, housing affordability, and environmental protection. Her platform includes expanding affordable housing programs, investing in roads, broadband, clean water systems, and public transit, while protecting East Tennessee’s mountains and waterways from corporate pollution. She also supports investments in STEM education, trade schools, and public schools while opposing policies that strip resources away from public education.

On immigration, Michaela supports border security alongside humane reform, including modernizing the immigration system, creating pathways to citizenship, and holding federal agencies accountable. She also advocates for LGBTQIA+ protections, veterans services, responsible AI regulations, and stronger oversight of large tech companies and data centers.

In this interview, Michaela discusses her transition from scientist and entrepreneur to congressional candidate, how her experience working inside Congress shaped her campaign, and how Tennessee families are being affected by federal policies. Taiwan and China split in 1949, Taiwan has operated independently ever since, and China still considers the island part of its territory. The U.S. continues playing both sides by never officially recognizing Taiwan as an independent nation while still supplying weapons through the Taiwan Relations Act. Xi warned Trump directly to be careful with how the U.S. handles Taiwan moving forward, while Trump still hasn’t made a decision on a $14 billion arms package to the island, which has people questioning whether he already folded under pressure.

Back in the U.S., election and redistricting fights are fully spiraling. California’s governor race got messy after reports surfaced that billionaire Tom Steyer was allegedly paying influencers for campaign posts and those creators are not disclosing it, Tennessee Democrat Steve Cohen announced his retirement after the Memphis district redraw, and Louisiana launched an effort to recall Governor Jeff Landry after postponing the state’s midterm primary while still allowing constitutional amendments to stay on the ballot. Mississippi backed off its special redistricting session, South Carolina failed to pass new maps on the first attempt, and the Supreme Court declined to hear Virginia’s case over its rejected maps. At the same time, thousands gathered in Selma to march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge 61 years after Bloody Sunday.

On the war front, Trump is reportedly trying to get around congressional approval requirements by simply renaming the Iran operation “Operation Sledgehammer,” after calling it an incursion was too hard for Trump to remember. Meanwhile, Fox News finally admitted inflation under Trump has become a disaster, Trump announced plans to send an “election integrity army” into every state for the midterms, and Colorado Governor Jared Polis granted clemency to election denier Tina Peters after pressure from the White House. Add in a Georgia data center burning through millions of gallons of water during a drought, Hawaii passing legislation aimed at dismantling Citizens United, and Trump promising the Trump phones are finally coming “in two weeks".

We also cover one of the most devastating ICE stories yet. Wendy Hernandez Reyes was deported without her two-year-old son, who was later murdered by an abusive relative after ICE blamed her for “choosing” to leave him behind. The details are horrific and reignited outrage over how immigration enforcement handles families and deportations involving children.

Rounding out the week of news with "Yes, that really did happen", the National Guard was spotted playing an arcade game mocking the Iran war, Kash Patel is reportedly putting already-arrested people onto the FBI’s Most Wanted list for optics, Trump doubled down on saying he doesn’t care about Americans struggling financially, and Christian nationalists gathered at the National Mall to pray over Trump’s ballroom project while declaring he was sent by Jesus to build it.

Be sure to follow/subscribe to stay up to date on the news you NEED to know.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Jonathan Bonner(State House GA District 68)

Jonathan Bonner is running for State House Representative in Georgia’s District 68 as a working-class organizer, single father, and caregiver focused on fighting for working families across South Fulton, Fayetteville, Fairburn, Tyrone, and Union City.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Jonathan Bonner is running for State House Representative in Georgia’s District 68 as a working-class organizer, single father, and caregiver focused on fighting for working families across South Fulton, Fayetteville, Fairburn, Tyrone, and Union City. Having spent most of his life in District 68, Jonathan says he understands firsthand the struggles families are facing, from rising housing costs and underfunded schools to healthcare access and economic instability. His campaign is centered on building a government that works for ordinary people instead of corporations and political insiders.

Jonathan’s background as a caregiver and community organizer heavily shapes his platform. Over the years, he has organized town halls, food drives, community cleanups, and youth mentorship efforts while advocating for policies focused on economic justice, public education, and healthcare access. He believes politics should prioritize working people, tenants, students, veterans, and families who feel ignored by the current system.

His platform includes Medicare for All, stronger labor protections, paid family leave, direct support for caregivers, and fully funded public schools with higher teacher pay. Jonathan is also outspoken against corporate tax breaks for large data centers and developers, arguing that communities should not bear the environmental and financial burden while corporations profit. He supports stronger tenant protections, affordable housing investments, union rights, and campaign finance reform aimed at reducing corporate influence in politics.

Jonathan says his campaign is rooted in the belief that government should serve the 99%, not wealthy donors or corporations. He supports banning corporate PAC money, expanding voting rights, ending gerrymandering, and increasing transparency in government. His campaign also focuses on public transit, utility justice, and creating policies centered around human needs rather than corporate profits.

In this interview, Jonathan discusses what inspired him to run for State House, how state representatives can directly impact local communities, and how Georgia lawmakers and residents have pushed back against current federal policies. He also breaks down his plans for public school funding, explains why he opposes corporate giveaways to data centers, and shares his top priorities if elected. Plus, he talks about rebuilding trust with disillusioned voters, his dream VP pick, a chaotic food question involving Trump and RFK, and his favorite Georgian.

📍 Topics include
• Why Jonathan Bonner is running for Georgia State House District 68
• Fighting for working-class families and caregivers
• Medicare for All and expanding healthcare access
• Fully funding public schools and raising teacher pay
• Pushing back against corporate data center tax breaks
• Housing affordability, tenant protections, and union rights
• Campaign finance reform and expanding voting rights
• Jonathan’s top three priorities when entering office
• Rebuilding trust with voters frustrated by politics
• Dream VP pick and rapid-fire political question
• Favorite Georgian

🎵 Full interview available now on Spotify and YouTube

📲 Stay connected with Jonathan & support his campaign

🌐 Website & campaign info | bonnerforhouse.com

📸 Instagram I @bonnerforgeorgia

🎵 TikTok | @bonnerforgeorgia

Follow along with our Podcast and interviews by hitting that follow/subscribe button and giving our videos a listen and a like!

Episode 57: Whiskey Pete is Dethroned by Keg Stand Patel

Episode 57 starts with the breakdown of the redistricting battle.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Episode 57 starts with the breakdown of the redistricting battle. Alabama pushed maps through in the middle of tornado warnings and the Supreme Court is allowing the state to use them. Missouri’s Supreme Court upheld their own controversial maps, Tennessee eliminated Memphis’ only Black district, Florida already redistricting, Louisiana postponed its midterm primaries after redrawing maps, and South Carolina may be next. Meanwhile in Virginia, the FBI raided the home of state senator Louise Lucas after she helped push Virginia’s redistricting efforts, only for the Virginia Supreme Court to strike the maps down anyway because Democrats didn't follow all of the protocols. Now Virginia Democrats are now proposing lowering the mandatory retirement age for Virginia Supreme Court justices from 73 to 54 which would basically eliminate the justices that struck down the map.
Then we get into the political shenanigans of the week. People started crowdfunding for Spirit Airlines after its collapse, which absolutely feels like the beginning of a scam documentary led by white men. Another airline is starting to show major signs of doom, Delta Air Lines announced it’s cutting snacks and drinks on short-haul flights because apparently even pretzels are too expensive now. Meanwhile, a data center backed by Kevin O'Leary is being built in Utah that’s reportedly the size of 2,000 Walmarts, will use 9 gigawatts of electricity, and generate enough heat every day to compare it to dozens of atomic bombs detonating in Hansel Valley. Palm Beach International Airport is now named after Trump and selling his merch while Americans can barely afford airfare, Senate Republicans want taxpayers to fund Trump’s billion-dollar ballroom after claiming private donors would pay for it, and a Secret Service agent assigned to protect Trump was arrested in Miami after allegedly exposing himself and touching himself naked outside hotel rooms during a work trip. And yes, he was only placed on administrative leave.
We also dive into the growing hantavirus panic after human-to-human transmission was reported by the WHO on board a cruise ship, despite the U.S. pulling out of the organization. Three cruise passengers have died, Spain still allowed the ship to dock in the Canary Islands, Switzerland confirmed a case, and Georgia health officials are monitoring two passengers from the ship. The MAHA politicians went straight back to 2021 rhetoric and are pushing ivermectin, zinc, and vitamin D instead of vaccines. The CDC labeled it a level 3 outbreak, Moderna is now working on a vaccine, and people are understandably asking why it feels like nobody learned anything from the last pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration shut down the federal agency responsible for overseeing abuse complaints inside ICE detention centers, leaving families with almost nowhere to report mistreatment. DHS is blaming Congress, while Congress says the agency was created by law and never legally abolished. We also cover the story of 18-year-old Kevin Gonzalez, who was dying of stage 4 colon cancer and his parents were detained trying to reach him after their humanitarian visa request was denied. After a judge finally ordered their release, they reunited with their son in Mexico only hours before he passed away.
And to round out the week with "Yes, that really did happen", Trump reportedly asked the military for help with his phone autocorrect after it changed Melania’s name to “Melody” during an event, Kash Patel is ordering polygraph tests because information keeps leaking to The Atlantic like his personalized whiskey bottles given to staff and friends, Virginia officials are blaming Etsy witches for political problems, and MAGA supporters are now asking where their tariff refunds, Trump phones, and promised medical ship to Greenland actually went.
Be sure to follow/subscribe to stay up to date on the news you NEED to know.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Dr. Annie Andrews(US Senate South Carolina)

Dr.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Dr. Annie Andrews is running for U.S. Senate in South Carolina as a pediatrician, mother, and advocate focused on putting working families ahead of corporate interests and political games. After spending nearly two decades caring for children and families across South Carolina, Annie decided to run because she saw firsthand how failures in Washington were hurting patients long before they ever entered a hospital room. From rising healthcare costs to gun violence and economic instability, she believes families have been abandoned by politicians more focused on donors and culture wars than real solutions.

Annie’s background as a pediatrician gives her a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face every day. She has treated children struggling with serious medical issues, families unable to afford medication, and victims of gun violence, experiences that shaped her commitment to healthcare reform, public safety, and economic stability. Unlike many career politicians, Annie is not taking corporate PAC money and says her campaign is focused on serving South Carolina families, not lobbyists or special interests.

Her platform centers on affordable healthcare, reproductive freedom, public education, and economic policies that support working people. Trump and Melania are mad at Jimmy Kimmel again for doing his job, telling jokes, Apparently jokes are only funny when aimed at Joe Biden. At the same time, Katie Phang filed a lawsuit in D.C. against Attorney General Todd Blanche demanding the full release of the Epstein files. Behind the scenes, JD Vance is reportedly questioning the Pentagon over the Iran war, specifically concerns about depleting munitions and what happens if China moves on Taiwan. Trump also fired every member of the National Science Board, because of course he did, while James Comey somehow got indicted again over the “8647” post, and its already looking like nothing will happen.
Trump’s face is being put on passports for D.C. residents in a limited rollout, and he’s now pushing for mandatory cognitive exams for anyone running for president because hes mad that other presidents werent begged to take them. Meanwhile, Spirit Airlines is done, shutting down and leaving workers with nothing overnight. And in one of the most serious moves of the week, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit revoked access to the abortion pill mifepristone by mail and telehealth, forcing in-person visits only. In a system where people already wait months for care, that decision isn’t about safety. It’s about making access nearly impossible.
On the war front, according to Trump, we won and its over? Trump told Congress the war is “over,” conveniently lining up with the 60-day limit under the War Powers Act, while also claiming it’s unconstitutional to even require congressional approval in the first place. At the same time, he’s already floating going after Cuba next, which isnt surprising seeing as they are running out of time before the blue sweep in November.
We also touch on the continued dismantling of voting protections, with Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act being dismantled in front of our eyes. We speak with Attorney Di who gives us her opinion from a legal perspective.
Meanwhile, ICE reassigned Jonathan Ross after the fatal shooting of Renee Good, instead of holding him accountable, and hired MVM Inc, a firm previously accused of torture and forced disappearance, to track undocumented children under the label of “wellness checks.”
For "Yes, that really did happen" this week, Trump sat down for an interview where a shooter’s manifesto was read in a way that clearly hit a nerve, floated renaming ICE to “NICE,” and stood next to the Artemis astronauts who looked like they were being held hostage. A retired Lieutenant Colonel with 26 years in the United States Army, Maura decided to run after seeing firsthand how policies were failing veterans, rural communities, and working people. After becoming the Democratic nominee in 2024, she increased vote share and turnout, showing growing support across the district.
Maura’s background spans military leadership, government contracting, and healthcare. She enlisted as a Military Police officer and rose through the ranks, earning recognition including the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. After retiring from the Army, she continued serving through Department of Defense projects before becoming a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, providing care to veterans through the Atlanta VA healthcare system. Her career reflects a consistent focus on service, efficiency, and taking care of those who served.
Her platform centers on economic stability, accessible healthcare, and strong support for rural communities. Maura supports raising the minimum wage to a livable standard, expanding healthcare access, and strengthening Social Security to keep up with rising costs. She is also focused on protecting Georgia’s agricultural economy, backing policies like the Agricultural Right to Repair Act to support farmers and reduce costs. As a veteran, she prioritizes expanding access to VA care, especially in rural areas, through telehealth and local clinics.
Maura also advocates for practical immigration reform that balances enforcement with streamlined legal pathways, environmental policies that protect local communities from climate impacts, and full legal protections for LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities. Officials in Michigan shut that down immediately, with state leaders making it clear that elections aren’t just going to be handed over because Trump said so. It’s another reminder that a lot of the panic online happens before anything even actually happens.
Then we get into Virginia’s redistricting win, locking in a 10–1 redistricting outcome. Republicans, of course, immediately cried fraud after losing, which seems to be the standard response anytime things don’t go their way. Nobody should be shocked that a judge is trying to overturn it.
We also break down the latest ICE developments, including reports that agents may soon be equipped with surveillance-style smart glasses capable of recording faces, tracking movements, and feeding that data into databases for identification purposes which goes against the 4th Amendment. At the same time, plans surfaced to build a detention facility for families and children on top of contaminated land at England Air Force Base in Louisiana, where toxic chemicals have been recorded at extreme levels.
Then the week took a sharp turn when chaos broke out at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after "shots" were reported nearby, forcing an evacuation and canceling the event. The entire internet came together immediately calling it staged due to the very poor performance by all involved. We saw RFK Jr leave his wife to fend for herself, Stephen Miller used his wife as a shield, JD Vance was removed before Trump, and Erikka Kirk had to show off the tears for the cameras while being anywhere but home.
We also get into the war updates that obviously keep getting worse. Peace talks that were supposed to happen in Pakistan fell apart before they even got off the ground due to the ceasefire being broken. Meanwhile, service members deployed overseas are already reporting worsening conditions, including food shortages and supply problems, with some saying they have lost over 15 pounds. Add in the firing of the Navy Secretary in the middle of an active naval blockade, this is absolute chaos.
And then Trump reposting a lengthy transcript filled with racist rhetoric pulled directly from commentary about birthright citizenship. Finally, we covered Republicans pushing forward proposals including bills to rename airports in Trumps name, create $250 bills with his face on them, and establish a peace prize for him. Almost as if they are trying to grant him his final wishes before death....

Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Episode 54: "Doctor" Trump Said Diet Coke Kills Cancer.....

We kick off with another war update because obviously the situation keeps getting worse.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

We kick off with another war update because obviously the situation keeps getting worse. We break down the chaos around the Strait of Hormuz, where the U.S. blockade wasn’t taken seriously, China moved straight through, and then the strait shut down again anyway. At the same time, the Pentagon has been told to speed up preparations tied to potential military activity in Cuba, while reports surfaced that the military is preparing to board Iran-linked tankers and seize ships in international waters. Reports showed that Trump had to be removed from the Situation Room during the pilot rescue effort because he was too erratic, service members in the Middle East dealing with supply shortages, and Trump is asking auto manufacturers to start building weapons like it’s World War II all over again.
Then we shift to what’s happening here at home, starting with Tennessee’s 9th District race between ancient Steve Cohen and challenger Justin Pearson. A data analyst uncovered a major spike in inactive voter registrations starting December 1, 2025, in Shelby County, a majority-Black area. Being marked inactive means voters have to prove where they live before their vote counts, and if they don’t catch it ahead of time, they risk being pushed into provisional ballots or not voting at all. It’s exactly why paying attention to local elections matters and why voter registration checks aren’t optional anymore. Stop spiraling over the SAVE Act that is not going to pass and start focusing on local suppression that actually is happening.
Next up is the late-night chaos in the House over the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Republicans tried to rush through an extension after 11 PM that would expand surveillance powers and allow even more access to communications involving Americans. Trump wanted an 18-month extension, House leadership under Mike Johnson wanted five years, and 20 Republicans revolted that they were forced to settle on a temporary 10-day extension while they figure out what comes next. At the same time, Democrats led by Jamie Raskin introduced legislation tied to the 25th Amendment to review presidential capacity by forming a commission, which immediately sent conspiracy theorists into overdrive.
We also talk about the consequences of gutting public safety systems after Kansas City was hit by multiple tornadoes without proper warning coverage following cuts to weather monitoring programs. At the same time, headlines about Trump negotiating a potential multi-billion-dollar settlement with the IRS added another layer of outrage during tax season, especially considering the people on the other side of the case are his own political allies so he is about to pocket billions of our dollars.
Then we get into the darker headlines from this week, including a mass shooting in Louisiana that left eight children dead. There was also reporting that uncovered online communities where men were sharing instructions on how to drug and assault their wives. We also break down the influencer circus, including Joe Rogan quickly falling back into Trump’s arms after criticizing him, and the backlash surrounding calls from figures like Ro Khanna, Ilhan Omar, and David Hogg to engage personalities like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson.
We also cover the latest ICE update, including charges filed against agent Gregory Donnell Morgan after allegedly pointing a firearm at civilians in their car, plus the growing scrutiny around FBI Director Kash Patel following reports of erratic behavior and internal chaos. Add in controversies around Caitlyn Jenner and passport policy changes, bizarre presidential social media posts, and staged door dash deliveries that left us all feeling a lot of secondhand embarrassment.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Shelby Campbell(Congress MI District 13)

Shelby Campbell is running for Congress in Michigan’s 13th District as a working-class woman determined to bring real-life experience into a political system that too often leaves working families behind.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Shelby Campbell is running for Congress in Michigan’s 13th District as a working-class woman determined to bring real-life experience into a political system that too often leaves working families behind. A mother, third-generation union member, and former service and assembly line worker, Shelby decided to run because she knows what it means to live under policies written without working people at the table. She believes leadership should reflect the realities of everyday Americans, not corporate interests or political insiders.

Shelby’s background spans the service industry, healthcare work as a certified nursing assistant, and the auto industry, where her family’s deep ties to the UAW shaped her understanding of labor rights and solidarity. As a first-generation college graduate who attended Rock Valley College and Wayne State University, Shelby brings both lived experience and formal education to her work. Her campaign is funded by everyday people rather than corporations, reflecting her commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-driven leadership.

Her platform focuses heavily on strengthening worker protections, expanding union rights, and improving workplace safety standards nationwide. Shelby supports affordable housing initiatives, tenant protections, and policies that prevent displacement caused by large corporate development. She also prioritizes universal healthcare access, improved maternal health resources, expanded mental health services, and better food access for underserved communities. In addition, she advocates for prison reform, diversion programs for non-violent offenders, and federal marijuana legalization paired with record expungement for non-violent offenses.

Shelby also believes strongly in education reform, including tuition-free community college and expanded mental health support in schools. She supports policies that promote public transit access, neighborhood revitalization, and youth programs designed to break cycles of poverty and trauma. Her broader vision centers on government accountability, banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks, rejecting corporate campaign money, and ensuring that working-class voices have real influence in federal decision-making.

In this interview, Shelby discusses what inspired her to run, how her time in the auto and service industries shaped her views on labor and unions, and why prison reform and mental health advocacy are central to her platform. She also shares her top priorities if elected, her message to voters who feel disconnected from politics, her dream VP pick, a rapid-fire fill-in-the-blank game moment, and her favorite hidden gem in Michigan.

📍 Topics include
• Why Shelby Campbell is running for Congress in Michigan’s 13th District
• The importance of working-class representation in government
• Labor unions, worker protections, and workplace safety reform
• Prison reform, diversion programs, and mental health advocacy
• Expanding affordable housing and tenant protections
• Universal healthcare and maternal health access
• Education reform and tuition-free community college
• Shelby’s top three priorities when entering office
• Rebuilding trust with voters who feel disengaged
• Dream VP pick and fill-in-the-blank rapid-fire round
• Favorite hidden gem in Michigan

🎵 Full interview available now on Spotify and YouTube

📲 Stay connected with Shelby & support her campaign

🌐 Website & campaign info | soup4change.com

📸 Instagram I @shelby4congress

🎵 TikTok | @shelby4congress

Follow along with our Podcast and interviews by hitting that follow/subscribe button and giving our videos a listen and a like!

Episode 53: Trumps Plan for Iran? In the Middle East, any idea of a “ceasefire” basically fell apart immediately. Strikes keep going, Lebanon’s still getting hit, Iran’s responding, and now the Strait of Hormuz is in play which is basically one of the biggest oil choke points on the planet. If that gets restricted, everything gets more expensive and way more unstable fast. On top of that, there are reports China might step in with advanced air defense systems for Iran, and the U.S. is moving naval assets into position near the Strait, which is starting to feel less like deterrence and more like a pressure cooker. Even inside the U.S. military messaging space, service members are reportedly pushing back on official accounts of what’s happening in Kuwait, which just adds another layer of “who are we even getting the truth from right now.”
Back in the U.S., elections are still happening. In Georgia’s 14th, Shawn Harris lost to Clayton Fuller, but the real headline is the 25 point swing in a deep red district. That’s not normal movement, that’s something shifting under the surface. In Wisconsin, liberals just locked in a 5–2 Supreme Court majority through 2030 because of staggered terms, which basically means that court is set for years. And in Congress, things are getting messy fast. A sitting House member Eric Swalwell is now dealing with multiple misconduct allegations, including a 2024 incident that’s now under criminal investigation. He denies it, but the fallout is already happening: staff leaving, political pressure building, people calling for him to drop out. It’s also important to say clearly that when allegations of this nature surface, victims and survivors deserve to be heard, taken seriously, and protected, and these situations are never just political storylines — they involve real harm and real people. At the same time, both parties are escalating talk of expulsion efforts against members on opposite sides of the aisle.
Domestically, there’s also just a bunch of really crazy, scattered incidents stacking up. A city councilman’s house gets shot up after a controversial vote. Someone throws a Molotov at a AI tech CEO’s home. Multiple warehouse fires across different states, including one in New York that killed multiple people including a child. On top of that, you’ve got talk about bringing automatic draft for selective service of men 18 to 25, plus proposals that would let the federal government access massive amounts of employee medical and insurance data. So privacy concerns are very real here, not theoretical.
And then there’s the “this cannot be real but it is” section. Hunter Biden challenged Trump's sons to a cage match. Trump shows up at a UFC event and the crowd reaction is basically awkward silence while Vance is overseas failing to negotiate access through the Strait of Hormuz. And then there’s a live call with astronauts on board Artemis II from Trump that led to the longest awkward pause and awkward laughter ever.
Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: John Hsu(Congress NJ District 6)

John Hsu is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 6th District as a grassroots organizer and progressive advocate focused on shifting power back to working families.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

John Hsu is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 6th District as a grassroots organizer and progressive advocate focused on shifting power back to working families. A former leader in Bernie Sanders’ 2020 New Jersey campaign, John built his political foundation through organizing, supporting striking nurses, standing alongside steelworkers on picket lines, and advocating for environmental protections and public spaces in his community. His campaign centers on the belief that government should serve everyday people instead of wealthy interests and large corporations.
John’s platform focuses heavily on economic fairness and reducing inequality. He supports taxing billionaires and ultra-wealthy households, closing corporate tax loopholes, and using that revenue to fund healthcare, education, and infrastructure. He also supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks and strengthening ethics and transparency laws to rebuild trust in government and reduce corruption.
Healthcare reform is one of John’s top priorities. He supports a universal Medicare for All system that would expand coverage to include medical, dental, vision, and mental health services. He also backs universal childcare, tuition-free college and trade schools, and stronger public education funding to ensure students have access to quality learning opportunities regardless of income or zip code.
John also advocates for major immigration reform, including abolishing ICE and creating a more humane and efficient system with clearer pathways to citizenship. His environmental platform includes support for the Green New Deal, investments in clean energy, and major infrastructure upgrades to address climate change and modernize transportation systems. He also emphasizes workers’ rights, union protections, housing affordability, and protecting reproductive rights at the federal level.
In this interview, John discusses his journey from grassroots organizing to running for Congress, how federal policies affect New Jersey families and workers, and how he plans to collaborate with activist groups to push policy forward. We start with a warning about election interference tactics, including reports of Republicans allegedly running fake Democrats to siphon votes away from independents, and why that alone proves elections aren’t being “rigged shut” like doom-posters keep claiming. We break down Supreme Court chaos, including oral arguments around birthright citizenship, a disastrous performance from DOJ counsel, and an 8–1 ruling backing challenges to conversion therapy bans that dropped like salt in the wound on Trans Visibility Day.
Then we get into the latest court battles, including a federal judge halting construction on Trump’s so-called White House “ballroom” after he slipped and admitted it was more like a bunker, plus another judge blocking attempts to defund public media outlets. Judges are still doing their jobs, even if the fear mongering crowd thinks otherwise.
Next, we dive into the firing heard across the internet: Pam Bondi getting the boot ahead of subpoena testimony tied to the Epstein files. She is still legally bound to testify on the 14th no matter what. We talk about loyalty tests inside the administration, who might be next on the chopping block, and why firing people won’t stop the pressure closing in.From there, we break down what people should actually be worried about: ICE escalation. Agents showing up at Marine Corps graduations targeting communities with higher Hispanic enlistment, another death in ICE custody, and the horrifying case of a two-year-old detained without food for 11 days at the Dilley Detention Center before public outrage forced his release. We talk about why this can’t be handled case-by-case and why detention centers themselves need accountability. On the global front, things get darker. We cover escalating tensions with Iran, threats tied to Ukraine support, fighter jets being shot down, and the bombing of Teva Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest generic drug manufacturers in the world. Trump is also asking for another trillion dollars to fund the war after he promised it would be over in two weeks...
Bottom line: the courts are still blocking things, elections are still happening, and panic posting isn’t a strategy. Paying attention, voting, and actually doing the work is.Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Alex Kelloff(Congress CO District 3)

Alex Kelloff is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District because he believes working families deserve leadership that understands both small-town realities and the broader economy shaping their lives.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Alex Kelloff is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District because he believes working families deserve leadership that understands both small-town realities and the broader economy shaping their lives. A fourth-generation Coloradan, entrepreneur, and financial executive, Alex stepped into this race after the 2024 election, saying it was time to step away from business and “do good” through public service.
Raised in a family rooted in Southern Colorado since 1893, Alex grew up working in his family’s grocery stores and doing hands-on jobs like construction and yard work. That early experience shaped his understanding of how small businesses and local economies actually function. He went on to build a career spanning tech, finance, and infrastructure, including leading over $20 billion in telecom and investment deals and helping expand rural broadband and digital infrastructure across the country.
Now, he wants to bring that economic and infrastructure expertise to Congress to focus on what he calls his top priority: jobs, jobs, and jobs. His campaign centers on lowering the cost of living, strengthening local economies, and creating good-paying jobs that allow people to stay and build lives in their communities.
Alex supports investing in clean energy, infrastructure, and workforce training to drive long-term economic growth. He also backs universal healthcare access, protecting Social Security and Medicare, expanding public education and trade programs, and making higher education more affordable.
Protecting Colorado’s public lands and water resources is another key focus, along with defending reproductive rights, supporting gender equality, and ensuring equal opportunity for all. Democrats held the line, so Trump sent ICE to 13 airports. TSA was caught training ICE agents to check people in, raising Project 2025 privatization concerns. ICE agents ran from cameras and were confronted by flyers calling them Nazis and asking why they were there. Most deployed agents are Black and Hispanic—on purpose. The DOJ admitted in court it misread a memo about courthouse enforcement, going into immigration courts they shouldn’t have; their “whoopsie” will only get a slap on the wrist. Todd Lyons, acting ICE director, has been hospitalized multiple times from stress and Stephen Miller yelling at him.
DHS shutdown chaos continues. A deal to fund all of DHS except ICE fell through because Trump wanted the SAVE Act so he is refusing to allow any other bills to pass. He told GOP senators to skip Easter and “make this one for Jesus” to push it. Delta suspended perks and priority access for Congress until the shutdown ends. LaGuardia crash kills two pilots after an Air Canada Express jet hits a fire truck. Trump caved and signed an Executive Order to fund TSA, and then the Senate passed a funding bill unanimously—but House Republicans refused to vote yes because of the SAVE Act.
War updates: Trump backed off striking Iranian nuclear plants, claiming “peace talks” and a “big present” from Iran—really stock market manipulation. His cabinet gives him 2-minute military videos of explosions. USPS adds an 8% fuel surcharge. Military raises enlistment age to 42 and eases drug-related charges. 3,500 troops arrive in Iran, and Iran threatens U.S. colleges with campuses in the Middle East including VCU, Cornell, Texas A&M, Georgetown, Northwestern, and Carnegie Mellon.
Political shenanigans: The Supreme Court may reject mail-in ballots postmarked after Election Day, affecting military and domestic votes. Everyone is spiraling online, but we are telling everyone to MAIL IT EARLY. Steve Bannon says ICE at airports is a midterm test run because leftists keep giving MAGA ideas. California could have a Republican governor if Democrats don’t fix their jungle primary strategy. Emily Gregory flips Florida House District 87 by a few hundred votes which is where Mar-a-lago is located, Brian Nathan flips Florida Senate District 14. Republican voters out outshining Democrats in the primaries which means they are voting for Democrats. Gen Z CPAC attendees realize voting for Trump was a bad idea. The U.S., Argentina, and Israel veto a UN resolution calling slavery a crime against humanity and for reparations; 27 EU countries abstained. Trump is putting his signature on new U.S. bills in 2026, replacing the Treasurer’s signature, breaking a 150-year tradition.
Never meet your heroes: Nick Cannon and Chilli of TLC are MAGA.
Do Not Comply in Advance: Druski does a parody skit about conservative women and Erika Kirk took it VERY personally.
Yes, that really did happen: Trump supporters cheered at CPAC when asked about impeachment twice. Pentagon staffers call Pete Hegseth “Dumb McNamara.” Iran hacked Kash Patel’s personal email, leaking photos, his resume, and his Xvideos account. Lindsay Graham was caught at Disney World in 4K during the shutdown.

Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Jillian Gilchrest(Congress CT District 1)

Jillian Gilchrest is running for Congress in Connecticut’s 1st District because she believes government should actually reflect the real lives of working people.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Jillian Gilchrest is running for Congress in Connecticut’s 1st District because she believes government should actually reflect the real lives of working people. A mom, social worker, educator, and current State Representative, Jillian has built her career around listening to communities and turning those needs into policy that delivers real results.
First elected in 2018 after defeating a 23-year incumbent, Jillian has served four terms in the State House, where she now chairs the Human Services Committee. She has led efforts to expand paid family and medical leave, protect reproductive healthcare, lower healthcare costs, and strengthen support for working families. Now, she’s running for Congress to bring that same people-first leadership to Washington.
Jillian’s campaign is focused on building an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy. She supports raising the minimum wage to a living wage, expanding union protections, implementing a national paid family leave program, and creating universal childcare so families aren’t forced to choose between work and caregiving. She is also pushing for a fairer tax system where corporations and the ultra-wealthy pay their share.
Healthcare is central to her platform. Jillian supports universal healthcare and emphasizes prevention, affordability, and access as key pillars. She also advocates for protecting and expanding reproductive freedom nationwide, ensuring that decisions about healthcare remain between patients and doctors, not politicians.
She is also taking on corporate influence in both the economy and politics, supporting public campaign financing, cracking down on price gouging, and holding large corporations accountable when their workers rely on public assistance to survive.
Jillian believes that dignity at work, access to healthcare, and the ability to afford basic needs should not be out of reach in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Her approach is grounded in the idea that policy should make life easier, not harder, for everyday people.
In this interview, Jillian discusses what inspired her to run, how her experience in the State House translates to Congress, how Connecticut families are being impacted by rising costs and federal policy decisions, and what realistic healthcare reform looks like at the national level. She also shares her top priorities if elected, her message to voters who feel disconnected from politics, who she’d most want to question in a congressional hearing, her dream VP pick, and her favorite hidden gem in Connecticut.

📍 Topics include
• Why Jillian Gilchrest is running for Congress in Connecticut’s 1st District
• Turning community voices into real policy outcomes
• Experience in the State House and leading the Human Services Committee
• Expanding paid family leave and supporting working families
• Universal childcare and workplace protections
• Universal healthcare and lowering costs
• Protecting reproductive and gender-affirming care
• Addressing corporate influence and campaign finance reform
• Jillian’s top three priorities when she enters office
• Rebuilding trust in government
• Dream VP pick living or dead
• Congressional hearing question
• Favorite hidden gem in Connecticut
🎵 Full interview available now on Spotify and YouTube
📲 Stay connected with Brit & support her campaign

🌐 Website & campaign info | voteforjillian.com 📸 Instagram I @jilchrest 🎵 TikTok | @jilchrest Follow along with our Podcast and interviews by hitting that follow/subscribe button and giving our videos a listen and a like!

Episode 50: Is Pam Bondi Going To Be The Next One Out?

We start with a year anniversary!

Blue-Lusional Podcast

We start with a year anniversary! One year down, 50k followers across all our socials, and we thank everyone for their continued support of our channel. One year of Blue-lusional, 50 episodes in, and we cant wait for what this next year brings.
We start with updates on Iran. Trump threatens to leave NATO if the alliance doesn’t help with the Iran war. Japan, Germany, South Korea, and Australia refuse to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz, as they should. Trump says the U.S. doesn’t need anyone’s help. Joe Kent resigns as former director of the National Counterterrorism Center and starts singing like a canary. Hegseth lies and says families of killed service members are telling leadership to “finish the job.” 2,500 Marines are being deployed toward Iran. The U.S. removes sanctions on 140 million barrels of Iranian oil stuck at sea, while Iran says they don’t have any oil for sale. Trump says Iranian power plants will be bombed if the Strait of Hormuz isn’t reopened within 48 hours. Iran responds by threatening to bomb desalination plants and energy infrastructure across the Middle East and Israel. The Pentagon is asking for 200 billion dollars. The State Department issues a worldwide caution alert warning Americans to exercise extreme caution. Nancy Mace says Lindsey Graham needs to be removed from the situation room. Iran reportedly hits a F35 stealth jet.
Then we get into the political chaos. Congresswoman Summer Lee files 4 articles of impeachment against Pam Bondi. Bondi is subpoenaed over the Epstein files in a bipartisan vote with Nancy Mace proposing it. She is scheduled to testify April 14th. In a closed door meeting, Bondi refuses to commit to testifying under oath. When pressed, James Comer told Summer Lee to “stop b*tching,” leading to Democrats walking out.
We also break down government dysfunction. TSA workers are not showing up, with absenteeism on the rise at multiple large airports. Airports cannot operate without screening. Democrats tried to fund TSA and DHS workers during the shutdown, but Republicans blocked it multiple times.
We once again argue that the SAVE Act is not going to pass and while everyone continues to spiral over it, real voter suppression is being missed. Tennessee Republicans introduce a bill requiring insurance companies covering gender affirming care to collect highly sensitive patient data including treatment timelines, prescriptions, surgeries, age, location, and biological gender.
We also cover Cuba. The electrical grid has completely collapsed. Trump says he would be “honored” to take Cuba.
We close with ICE and enforcement developments. ICE tried to convert a warehouse into a detention facility in Social Circle, Georgia, but the city shut it down by cutting off water and sewage. DACA recipient Juan Chavez Velasco was pulled over by ICE while rushing to the hospital for his premature baby, saying “I never got to hold her.” Markwayne Mullin advances in the process to become head of DHS. Trump reportedly wants to reduce the visible chaos of mass deportations, and says ICE agents will be sent to airports if Democrats don’t fund ICE.
We close with high-profile moments. Trump gives out Neal Dunn’s personal medical info, claims a former Democratic president wanted to strike Iran, asks Japan why they didn’t warn him about Pearl Harbor, and says he’s happy Robert Mueller is dead and “we will do exactly the same.”

Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Case Norton(Congress GA District 7)

Case Norton isn’t a politician trying to relate to working people—he is one.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Case Norton isn’t a politician trying to relate to working people—he is one. A union camera technician, father, and working-class progressive, Case is running for Congress in Georgia’s 7th District because the people writing policy have clearly never had to live with it.
He knows what it’s like to juggle bills, lose healthcare, and watch costs rise while pay stays stuck. He’s worked multiple jobs, raised kids, and navigated the exact systems politicians debate from a distance—housing, healthcare, education, and job security. For Case, this campaign isn’t theoretical. It’s personal.
Case is stepping in because he believes Washington has been captured by corporate money, out-of-touch leadership, and political theater that leaves everyday families behind. His campaign centers on lowering the cost of living, expanding healthcare access, protecting union rights, and holding corporations accountable for price gouging and wage suppression.
His platform is rooted in lived experience: Medicare for All, affordable housing protections, fully funded public education, and aggressive action against monopolies and corporate tax loopholes. He’s also pushing for data privacy protections, AI regulation, environmental safeguards, and comprehensive immigration reform that replaces cruelty with a humane, constitutional system.
At the core of his campaign is a simple idea—accountability. Case supports term limits, banning congressional stock trading, and enforcing transparency so elected officials answer to voters, not donors.
In this interview, Case breaks down what pushed him to run, what a member of Congress should actually be doing for their district, and how Georgia families are being impacted right now—from rising costs to healthcare gaps to unstable work. We also get into his approach to education policy, including special education, and how his own experience without consistent healthcare shaped his priorities.
He shares his top three priorities once in office, his message to voters who feel completely checked out, and how he plans to bring a working-class perspective into rooms that have excluded it for far too long. Haitian asylum seeker Daphy Michel was found dead at a bus stop just three days after being released from an ICE detention center. She was seeking protection in the United States while her brother was living and working legally under Temporary Protected Status. At the same time, Vermont has become the newest target for expanded ICE operations, signaling a broader escalation in enforcement nationwide.

Then we get into the week’s political chaos. Explosive devices were discovered outside Gracie Mansion following a far right protest organized by extremist activist Jake Lang targeting Mayor Mamdani with anti Muslim rhetoric. Counter protests formed and two devices were thrown but did not detonate. Authorities have taken suspects into custody and are investigating possible extremist motivations, though nothing has been formally confirmed. Lang is also facing backlash after messages surfaced showing him allegedly attempting to communicate with a minor online.

We also break down major government dysfunction, including the ongoing Department of Homeland Security shutdown and reports that TSA workers are being told to report without pay, leading to massive airport delays. Do we think Democrats will fold yet again to their airline donors?
On elections, Florida’s version of the SAVE Act has passed, while in Boca Raton a mayoral race flipped blue by just five votes after a recount, ending decades without Democratic leadership in a city located in the same county as Mar a Lago. Meanwhile in Virginia, the GOP is sending misleading mailers using Jim Crow era imagery to try and trick Black voters ahead of a redistricting referendum, raising alarms about modern voter suppression tactics.
We also cover multiple acts of violence, including a shooting at Old Dominion University and an attempted attack at a Michigan synagogue. Investigators are examining whether global tensions are influencing domestic incidents.

Reports indicate a U.S. strike is likely responsible for having killed more than one hundred elementary school students in Iran, though officials dispute responsibility. At the same time, narratives about sleeper cells and drone threats on U.S. soil are circulating, fueling fears of manufactured consent for escalation. The Pentagon estimates the war effort has already cost billions, with thousands of Marines now being deployed and international allies being pressured to support military operations near the Strait of Hormuz.

We also revisit the Epstein investigation as searches at the New Mexico ranch move forward. Testimony from Epstein’s longtime accountant is raising new questions about financial settlements involving survivors and what prominent figures may have known. A prison guard on duty the night Epstein died is also expected to be deposed.

Be sure to follow/subscribe for weekly content covering what you NEED to know about.

Grassroots Candidate Interview: Christopher Ajluni(Congress AZ District 1)

Christopher Ajluni is running for Congress as an Independent in Arizona’s 1st District with a simple goal: prove politics can still work for ordinary people.

Blue-Lusional Podcast

Christopher Ajluni is running for Congress as an Independent in Arizona’s 1st District with a simple goal: prove politics can still work for ordinary people. His campaign refuses corporate PAC money and is powered by volunteers and small dollar supporters who are tired of watching lobbyists and wealthy donors shape policy while working families struggle.
Christopher grew up in Iowa as the grandchild of immigrants from Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine. His family’s story, from Ellis Island to rebuilding their lives in the United States, shaped his belief that opportunity should exist for everyone willing to work for it. His father worked as a pediatrician and his mother worked in public relations for Iowa Governor Robert Ray before leaving her career to raise their family. They taught him the importance of hard work, responsibility, and helping the community around you.
After spending thirty years in Iowa, Christopher moved to Arizona seven years ago and quickly made it home. Professionally, he worked in science and financial services, helping families build financial stability and plan for their futures. That experience gave him a close look at the economic pressures facing working people and how difficult it has become for many families to get ahead.
Christopher also served as Board Chair for Azahir, a nonprofit supporting Palestinian refugee children in northern Lebanon through education, psychosocial support, sports, and cultural programs. That work reinforced his belief that policy decisions have real consequences for communities both at home and abroad.
Frustrated by a political system dominated by fundraising and special interests, Christopher decided to run as an Arizona Independent Party candidate focused on solutions rather than party loyalty. His platform includes universal healthcare, affordable housing, fair wages, campaign finance reform, humane immigration policy, and evidence based policymaking on science and public health.
In this interview, Christopher talks about what inspired him to run, how a member of Congress can influence local communities, how Arizonans are being affected by national policies, and why he chose to run as an Independent.
