Grassroots Candidate Interview: Alex Kelloff(Congress CO District 3)

Alex Kelloff is running for Congress in Colorado’s 3rd District because he believes working families deserve leadership that understands both small-town realities and the broader economy shaping their lives. A fourth-generation Coloradan, entrepreneur, and financial executive, Alex stepped into this race after the 2024 election, saying it was time to step away from business and “do good” through public service.
Raised in a family rooted in Southern Colorado since 1893, Alex grew up working in his family’s grocery stores and doing hands-on jobs like construction and yard work. That early experience shaped his understanding of how small businesses and local economies actually function. He went on to build a career spanning tech, finance, and infrastructure, including leading over $20 billion in telecom and investment deals and helping expand rural broadband and digital infrastructure across the country.
Now, he wants to bring that economic and infrastructure expertise to Congress to focus on what he calls his top priority: jobs, jobs, and jobs. His campaign centers on lowering the cost of living, strengthening local economies, and creating good-paying jobs that allow people to stay and build lives in their communities.
Alex supports investing in clean energy, infrastructure, and workforce training to drive long-term economic growth. He also backs universal healthcare access, protecting Social Security and Medicare, expanding public education and trade programs, and making higher education more affordable.
Protecting Colorado’s public lands and water resources is another key focus, along with defending reproductive rights, supporting gender equality, and ensuring equal opportunity for all. He also emphasizes strengthening national defense, supporting veterans, and upholding democratic institutions and the rule of law.
For Alex, this race is about restoring the idea that hard work should lead to stability and opportunity, something he believes too many families in Colorado are no longer experiencing.
In this interview, Alex talks about what pushed him to run, how his background in investment banking and infrastructure shapes his approach to governing, and how federal policy decisions are impacting Colorado communities from agriculture to small business. He also breaks down how he’s building a broad coalition across the district, shares his top priorities if elected, and gives his message to voters who feel like the system isn’t working for them. Plus, we get into his dream VP pick, a chaotic foreign policy briefing question, and his favorite hidden gem in Colorado.
