Grassroots Candidate Interview: Danny Minton(Congress TX District 6)

Danny Minton was raised in a conservative, working-class family in Oklahoma where faith, hard work, and personal responsibility were a way of life. Today, he’s running for Congress in Texas’ 6th District because he believes government should work as hard as the people it serves.
For years, Danny proudly identified as a Republican. But as he watched the party drift from the values he was raised on—compassion, dignity, and love of neighbor—he made the decision to stand with working families instead of culture wars and partisan chaos. He’s not interested in political theater. He’s focused on solutions.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Zoology and advanced studies in epidemiology, Danny built his career in the medical field, training physicians and supporting patients facing serious illnesses like breast cancer and Alzheimer’s. That work gave him firsthand insight into how healthcare systems succeed—and where they fail everyday Americans.
Now living in Arlington with his wife Christina, a veterinarian, and their two sons, Danny’s campaign is built around hard work and practical policy. He is focused on making healthcare affordable, protecting public education from privatization, growing small businesses on Main Street instead of padding Wall Street, securing the border with humanity and competence, and defending the Constitution and voting rights for every eligible Texan.
He supports universal affordable healthcare modeled on programs like Medicare and the VA, strengthening public schools and banning voucher schemes that drain resources, fair tax policy that prioritizes small businesses over billionaires, firm and humane immigration reform without cruelty, and protecting fair maps and secure elections so voters choose their leaders—not the other way around.
In this interview, Danny shares what inspired him to run, what a member of Congress can actually accomplish for local communities, and how Texans are being affected by policies impacting farmers, immigration, tariffs, and economic stability. We discuss his shift from Republican to Democrat, the role of media and narrative in modern politics, his top three priorities once elected, his message to voters who feel disillusioned, his dream VP pick, a film-critic “would you rather,” and his favorite hidden gem in Texas.
